Compañía Cervecerías Unidas S.A. (CCU) is a diversified producer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with operations in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Colombia and Peru. CCU also exports wine to over 80 countries. CCU is one of the largest players in each one of the beverage categories in which it participates in Chile, including beer, soft drinks, mineral and bottled water, nectar, wine and pisco, among others.
CCU is the second-largest brewer in Argentina and also participates in the cider, spirits and wine industries. In Uruguay and Paraguay, the company is present in the beer, mineral and bottled water, soft drinks and nectar categories. In Bolivia, CCU participates in the beer, water, soft drinks and malt beverage categories. In Colombia, the company participates in the beer industry and in Peru, in the pisco industry. At the closing of 2018, the company holds license and/or distribution agreements with Heineken, PepsiCo, Seven-up, Schweppes, Nestlé S.A., Pernod Ricard, Promarca S.A. (Watt´s) and Coors. It has also developed its own brands, most notably the beers Cristal and Escudo, the soft drinks Bilz and Pap and the wines of the VSPT Group (Viña San Pedro Tarapacá).
Quiñenco participates in CCU through Inversiones y Rentas S.A., a company in which it has held an equal stake with the Dutch group Heineken since 2003. Together, both companies held 60.0% of the company as of December 31, 2018.
CCU has consolidated itself as a multicategory beverage company, with special emphasis on beer and nonalcoholic beverages, which is present in seven countries of Latin America. In 2018, it concluded the strategic plan designed with this purpose and established new goals for the 2019-2021 period. Based on the same three pillars –profitability, growth and sustainability–, the new plan establishes objectives in six areas: profitable growth of its business units; strengthening of its brands; innovation; ExCCelencia CCU efficiency plan; comprehensive employee development; and implementation of its 2030 Environmental Vision.
CCU has close to 8,800 employees and annually produces more than 28 million hectoliters of beverages, reaching around 300 thousand clients in Chile and Argentina.
CCU’s shares are traded on the Chilean stock exchanges Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago de Chile and Bolsa Electrónica de Chile. The company is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States of America and trades its American Depositary Shares (ADS) on the New York Stock Exchange.
